Setting Timing From Scratch.

hi to all nice people , im new to the board and new to diesel :( , i recently bought cummins 6bt 12v for a conversion i have going on, i dissasembled the engine to clean / paint and i did the kdp fix, but the problem is that i took out the injection pump to paint it and i dont remember if i putted back the same way it was, i remeber marking the cam & pump gear position, but i only aligned the gear to pump shaft with the shadow / mark spot of the woodruf key hole.

and im not sure after searching the forum for "timing" i only read about people talking about modifing timing , and i saw something about a kit that cost 250 from snap on , if anyone can help me with a part number for the snap on tool i need also i could have some guidance/ tutorial, i will apreciate very much .
a local diesel shop wants 250 greens to set it up ,im thinking in buying the tool , doing it myself and learn in the process. thanks.

Well...........never really had this problem before (one of the few).

There is a pin that locks the timing in place. It's located inbetween the IP and engine block and will push in towards the timing case. Line that up and then your either on or your 180* off.

You would need this Snap On kit for timing and IMHO if ya got any extra $$ then this one and this one would get ya everything you need. The timing kit doesn't include the engine barring tool which is handy as hell.
