Blowing oil out the dipstick tube

Like the title states thats what im running into now. Oddly enough the truck runs fine and has great power. My buddy's dad told me the rings are gone. ANyone had this happen? And what would something like this usually run to fix?

are you sure your vent on the side of the block aint plugged up?

no sir, not at all sure. im new to the diesels. I just got the truck from my father in law with only 190k miles on it and he said it was the dipstick that was messed up and didnt click down. But my buddies dad who is a mechanic said that if it was just the stick that was bad oil wouldnt shoot out the tube. :s:

The stock breathers on these engines aren't the greatest. Just put a beather in one or two of the valve covers.

My dad has a 95 2500 and bought a catcher for the blow by to install on his truck, anyway to make a long story short he gets to a job and his truck shoots oil out of the dipstick. he takes the damn kit off of his truck and on the way home he notices that he has no power. is the engine a goner?

my truck did this, the breather was clear and i had bad rings, but it still had great power, just have to watch the oil level, if you add a breather somewhere it will quit leaking out the dipstick
