electrical problems HELP PLEASE

hey guys ive got a 95 2500 12 valve. its a flat deck and i just had it in to have some welding done on the deck and i think they didnt disconnect the battery because now i have no OD, no spedo or odo, and the alternator is not charging. all the fuses are fine so im sort of worried right now. can anyone tell me if maybe its the voltage regulator and where it is? or what else it might be?

thanks, need help asap its my work truck

I'm not sure about the 95's, but I know the later 12 valves have the voltage regulator in the PCM. I've heard of the crank sensor causing some gauge issues, but I'm not sure if that's what's wrong. I take it you checked all the fuses under the dash and under the hood?

95 are the same the voltage reg is in the computer, i would try the crank sensor also they can cause the same problems if they go out, as for disconnecting the battery i have heard you are suppose too but i have welded on ALOT of cars and trucks with the battery still connected, including my personal 95 and have NEVER had it cause any problems

i havent either but i know they were welding and werent doing anything else and now all this crap started. guess i will check the crank cas sensor and the voltage reg

it may have fried your pcm. there is no way to chack the voltage regulator. if the crank sensor goes out it will dissable the tach, the alt and od and TC lock up. as far as the speedo, the crank sensor wont mess with that if it goes out

you should ALWAYS disconnect the negative side of the battery when welding. The welder completes the circuit of electricity as the negative and if you have a double negative, the power from the welder will fry your computer in the truck. Personal experience and knowledge from growing up breaking things

i know i wasnt doing the welding my trailer place was to have the hoist fixed

thanks guys, a little worried its the PCM, who knows what that will cost?
