i just got the truck a week ago and they said it has a newer jasper trany in it. from a dead stop if you leave it in drive it starts in 3rd and obviouly has no power untill it gains a little speed. but i can shift down on the column and get 1st and second. if i go to 1 then back to drive it shifts and feels perfect. sometimes (maybe 1 out of 20 times) it will shift like it should from D. locks in 3rd with od off fine and shifts to od and locks as it should. what would cause this? i really dont want to burn it up by staring in a high gear and its annoying column shifting all the time. thanks

 

I'm not familiar with the auto's in these trucks but I would start by making sure it's not somthing simple like an unplugged wire, good luck
