96 Slipping Tranny
 
my tranny in my cummins is slipping, espescially when cold. im going to be modifying the truck but nothing too radical ( for now ) just simple things like intake, exhaust, fuel plate, intake horn, possible injectors and methanol.
my question is: i already have a new stock tranny just sitting in my garage, so would i be ok just to buy an aftermarket torque convertor? or do i need billet input and output shafts too? or do i just need to spend tons and buy an ats tranny?
any input or opinion is appreciated

The decision would depend on how long you can afford to lay up the turck and how long before other mods. If you have money and the abillity to build or buy a tranny to hold up the extra stress put on it I would do it/over do it. If you need the truck bad and don't have the money I'd get a converter and put it back together and see how long it last while building the old one that came out. This is my opinion though take it or leave it.

man im having the same problem lol im actually trying to find a wrecked truck and put a 5-speed in it lol just cause they can hold up to alot more then the autos can (supposedly) LOL anyway when i put my cam plate in and moved it full forward and turned the pump up i put it on a dyno at a race track i was at (they were doing free dyno testing on anybody with a dodge pretty much told everyone else who wanted one to fuck off lol) itwas puttin out around 215 hp and bout 450 lbs./ft of torque so your puttin more than i did so i would go woth something made for AAALLLLLOOOOOT of torque lol especially depending on if u go with a 0 cam plate and anything over say bout 75-80 horse injectors.

im prob going with the 100 plate... like a 10 at low rpm and 0 at high rpm.
