NV4500 issue
Since the truck in my sig got stollen I'm looking at a new truck. The truck is a 5 speed with low miles (approx. 128k) but there is an issue with the trans jumping out of second gear. The truck was taken to a shop that is supposed to be knowlegable about these vehicles and their perlimanary diagnosis is a bent shift fork.
Anybody ever heard of this? Think that it's possible? Have any other opinion as to what could cause this to happen? There is one problem; I am in New Mexico and the truck is in Oregon so I can't mess with it myself. I just can't figure out if I should buy it or not. Help! Sam |
If the price is right get it. It is possible the fork is. Bent but if you pull the trans to fix it fix 5th gear

That's what I was thinking. They were asking $9000 before the tranny issue came up so I guess I'll have to see how much they will drop the price.
Anyone actually heard of a shift fork bending in this trans? |
i havent ever seen one bend but if it wears out it'll make it jump out of gear. i had one wear and it wouldnt hold 1st.

Is it likely to be worn at only 128k miles?
I was thinking that it could possibly be worn shift linkage? |
i have had this happen to my truck it did it in 3rd and 4th and sure enough it was the shift forks bent
