custom lift pump

i have a stock take off lift pump off a 02 24v that i was thinking about rigging up to use on my 95 instead of my mechanical one, do you guys think i will gain anything from this? im not too concerned with gain but i dont want to hurt my IP, if i do use this pump i will get some remote filter set ups form napa and move my fuel filter down to the frame and probably run two filters

I'm pretty sure that carter pump pushes a lot less psi because the vp pumps require about half the pressure. It won't work. And they aren't very good to begin with, thats why the vp's are always dying.

Stay away from that type of lift pump. They tend to fail slowly taking the vp with them so I would steer clear. Besides the mechanical one you have now is much more reliable and cheap to replace.

What about going the other way and puting mechanical on a vp44? just a thought.

Unless you get the can with the lobe for the mechanical pump on the 24v it wont work

It's easier to shell out the cash for an airdogII or a fass setup.

i was just wondering cause i have one laying around and i hate priming my truck with that mechanical one, i have a fuel pressure gauge so i always know what psi im running, i burn alot of used atf and motor oil so my fuel filters dont last long sometimes and i gotta keep an eye on that stuff

also wondering how the air dogs or fass work on the 12v, i know on the 24vs they are connected to the computer and as throttle increase so does fuel psi but on the 12v there isnt a computer to control it-so does it just run at the pumps max all the time and the ofv regulates the pressure then?
