trans trouble (again)
 
on the way home from work today i started hearin a noise... in 5th gear, anytime i let off the throttle i hear a smack. only does it in 5th... im guessin im losin it?
looks like no dillsburg dyno for me this weekend:dang:
is the mainshaft somethin i can do by myself?
i wish i had the money to build my freakin auto n put that back in...

you would do a dyno in 4th (being that it is the 1:1 gear)... so why not do it ?

weld it stuck... that's what i did and a friend of mine also did on his 95, back in 98 and it's still running !

yes thats what usually happens before the fifth gear nut comes completely off.

i had it happen to me in my red truck, first time it happend i didnt know what it was then i went down a hill and let off and wham no fifth gear, most of the people i know who had it happen said 3-5 hits and its done, had to run 4th gear home with 4.10s it sucked.

easiest way to do it is to tighten it down and weld it on if you dont want to buy the upgrade nut and wait for it.

i'd go do the dyno, but its 2 hours away n at 55 mph in 4th i'd be deaf before i got there...
