problem with high rpms at 65 or 70 mph
I have a '95 dodge turbo diesel 5.9l automatic need to know how i can dropp my rmps. It seems like its got one more gear to get but not in gaugin. when i got the truck the guy told me that the torque converter wire was messed up. He has a toggo switch to switch to high gear. Could that have somethin to do with the high rmps. Any advice would help.

I have the same problem with my 96 but i don't have a messed up torque converter. it's just the 4.10 gears with no load.

How many shifts does it do? I have a manual myself, so don't know how many gears the autos have, but I think you should have 4 gears. And I think OD has a button on the dash that you're suppose to deactivate when towing stuff. But, I doubt anyone really does.....
Also, how fast are you going, and what RPM are you getting? These trucks only go about 90mph. |
When im runnin 70 it sits around 2400 rpms. I'm really not sure how many gears it shifts. It just sound like it should have one more gear???

i felt that in my 4 speed manual. i never could find that fifth gear. next time you drive count the shifts
