G56

Anyone know about or heard of anyone doing this swap?

I've thought of it... I don't think it'd be too tough if you've already got a clutch that utilizes a 1-3/8 IP shaft. Maybe a custom Driveshaft, and you'd be rollin.

i've seen a NV5600 in an 96 have to change the drive shaft length for sure but other than that im not to sure.

Yep you would need new drive shafts trans crossmemberneeds to be moved. We did this swap in my buddies 03

Good things to know.

One other thing I do not know about on a second gen would be where the shifter come out and how the hydros would work. Because I dont know about the throw of the clutch fork as well

deerefanatic 02-01-2011 09:56 PM

I think the hydros are the same. Basically its the master cylinder mounting that's different between them. In fact, I have G56 hydros on my NV4500..... Sent to me by accident by Valair. Had to trim the arm a little, that's it.

Farmboy 2.0 02-02-2011 09:04 AM

Yeah I kinda figured the slave was the same. I know you cant do second gen hydraulics on a third gen. They sent my buddy vinny 2nd gen ones for his 3rd gen and we couldnt get the truck in gear

Why do you want a G56?

deerefanatic 02-03-2011 08:01 AM

Cause they're NICE to drive.... :)
