universal wire harnesss in a 95 cummins 12v with a 47rh tranmission
Hello, I am new to the forms but had a question about the truck I picked up recentley, Its a 1995 ram 2500 with the 12V cummins and a 47rh transmission, I guess part of the harness got fried so someone tried to fix it and its all so rigged up right now, I would like to simplify it by installing a universal like 14 circuit harness in it, I have installed harnesses in gasoling cars before but never a diesel. My question is whats needed to make the engine run? Just a power wire to the injection pump? I read somewhere there is 2 wires one for advance while starting? I will run a gm 1 wire alternator so there is no proublem there, and the transmission is mechanical becides converter and OD so thats easy enough, So the big question is what do I need to do to keep the engine running properley? and how would I install a tachometer with out the computer? Last question is my OD on the trans does not work and the kid I got it from said he installed a new solonoid on it and grounded it out and it did not work still what could it be? Sorry for all the questions but im a mustang guy and just getting into diesels and traded my 99 power stroke for this one. Any help would be awesome, Thanks!
