should i do a nv4500 or 5600 swap

i have started buying parts for a manual swap and was looking to buy a flywheel today then got to thinking if i really wanted a 5 or 6 speed im one of them guys that likes shifting thru the gears so was going to go with a nv5600 then got to think about a g56 witch trans should i go with nv45,nv56 or g56 and witch one is the strongest

If you tow much the 6 speed is much better because the ratios are closer so you dont lose your rpm which corisponds to power on hills. if you stay on flat ground the 5 speed works great. i have bolth and always want to drive 6 speed. but the revers position sucks!

do u have the nv5600 or g56 bc i was not a fan of where revers is on g56

Nv4500 will take the most abuse. G56 is the weakest and nv5600 if you have to have the closer ratio and slightly steeper od gear. I have both a 4500 and 5600. 5600 shifts notchey but you get use to it and the 4500 shifts pretty sweet imo.

parts are spendy for the 6 speeds compared to the 5 speeds, i bought a rebuilt six speed for my truck for when the auto goes, and it was a spendy setup, i have drivin 5 speeds and they are relly nice:jump:

nv5600 for towing, this tranny is tough as hell but now made for speed shifting so if yer wanting to race or speedshift the 4500 is better

Parts are easier to find and they're a lot cheaper for the nv4500.

ok so the nv4500 it is i was just think that i might be able to get a little more speed out of the 6 speed but if i can speed shift it very well its not going to make a dif and i was also reading that the ratio in nv 4500 and 5600 is not all that dif

i really like the nv4500s, iv got one in my dodge and swapped one in on my chevy. iv never driven any 6 speed trucks but compared to any other 5 speeds the nv4500 is an awesome transmission, shifts pretty smooth and takes an ass whipin, and the dodge units even have a synchronized reverse gear, what more could you ask for!

i love the 5 speed but if im pulling a long steep hill with 20000 pounds my 5 speed sucks because from 4th to 3rd is to far so i lose 10mph. it goes from screamin to the botom of rpm range, with 6 speed you just hit next gear. but if your empty the 5 speed is much nicer
