transmission problem any advice?

my 95 automatic 12 valve is acting as if the overdrive button is always off. Wont go out of 3rd gear i got plenty of fluid and just bout the tranny its a re-man jasper and also it will not go into 4 wheel drive. Anyone can help me? Know where 4x4 vacum is?

Dont know about the tranny but if the 4wd light doesn't come one it is in the actuator on the front axle. With the truck running pull the vacuum lines off the actuator on the front axle and check for vacuum. If you have vacuum then shift the truck into 4wd and the vacuum should switch to the other line. If you dont have any vacuum on wither line the vacuum lines run off the transfer case. If the lines switch the your actuator is either stuck or broken. You will have to take the actuator out of the front axle to see what is broken. It kind of looks like a shifting fork in a transmission. Also check to make sure all your vacuum lines are hooked up from the transfer case to the front axle. Mine rubbed into against the front driveshaft and I just used some small rubber line to repair it and tied it out of the way. Hope this helps.:tu:

kickdown cable adjusted properly? the vaccuume for the transfercase is a four prong plug that goes into the top of it. i would trace all lines and see if one is disconnected or rubed through
