need a bit of help.

well i am new here and i am a full time auto tech for 14 or more years and i am not that up on the diesel but i know enough to get by.

my truck is a 1994 ram 2500 2wd 12v

my issue i had a fuel leak on the ground and took me a bit of work but i found and fixed it. the prob was that the rubber 3/8 and 5/16 lines comeing from the frame to the motor were old and shot. i replaced one and started it no prob to find the other leaking also so replaced that one and we to start it and no go.

crank and crank and crank and it finally went i know the air got into it and i let it run for about 2 min or so and it chugged to stall and crank crank crank away and no fire .

pull the fuel filter to find that it was empty fill it and my buddy came to help me bleed it his way and that was to crack injectors and crank it fired for a second or two and stalled leaking some fuel from the injectors and we closed them and then crank crank crank crank and it fired and ran for about 2 to 3 min maybe less and chugged and stalled so we gave up for that night.

today i went to play some more cheacked the fuel filter and it was empty so i filled it and crank crank crank crank and it ran for another 2 min or so and stalled again.

now my truck came to me with some fuel filter relocation on it to put the filter up hangin off the intake elbow so i was told maybe remove it and put the filter to stock so i did and filled the fuel filter.

now this time befor i started it i look up on my alldata at work the process to bleed and it said to open a 10mm plug above the filter and pump the primer under the filter till the bubbles stop and i did that. started after cranking for a bit and it ran good and then 2 min later stalled again at this time and pissed!!!!!!!!

did the same thing open the plug and prime away and it fires and run for a few min and stalls now i am fed up i wnt back home with the stink of fuel and still not fixed.

no issues befor the leaks and now WTF idk what to do here. i know i gave you guys a big story on all this but i hope i can get some good info in return back to help me get back on the road.

thanks guys.

after it shut off was the fuel filter empty again? sounds like your lift pump is not pumping on its own. Its driven off a lobe on the camshaft, I would pull it and make sure the lifter that drives the pump is still there and now worn off. I think your pump is fine because you can prime it, just sounds like its not running while the motor is running.

ya after it stalls the filter is sucked empty i did not have any issues befor the leak. that is why i am so stupmed here

what about the pre filter screen? just a shot in the dark. seems if you did not have this problem before that you might still have a bad fuel line sucking air. kinda got me stummped

i dont see how the fuel line could still be suckin air i replace with new high presser hose from the steel barb at the motor to the steel line under the truck with high presser clamps. but i guess i could trip cheack it.

and pre screen filter? that is where? never herd that yet.

right above the starter there is a small canister that is black, inside is a screen. i believe it is a fuel heater but im learning as well. but if truck ran fine before that may be the wrong direction.

i will have too look in to that but it ran great befor the fuel hose leak and replacment.

to better check your fuel lines put pressure on your tank
