Truck is losing power

I have a 95 12 valve and for some reason when it hits over drive around 45 mph sometimes it will have tons of power and my turbo will go up to 50 lbs and it'll haul but it doesnt do that often. Most of the time it goes into overdrive and I can only get about 30 lbs and it feels like there is no power. If i ease into it when my turbo spools it will really pull but if i just step on it i feel a real small thump and it loses power.

Hmm... Id have to ride in it to experience what the problem is? So we will probably ask a serese of questions and have you check stuff. So my question to you is have you got your basses covered, i.e. Fuel system working properly, Is there any obstructions in the intake? Do you have a light haze of black smoke when you stomp on it? Is your air cleaner new? Hows the Turbo system? you did say a small thump, right? :humm:

Ok so I'm going to try this again. Had a big long explanation written then hit a bump in the road and the wrong button then it was gone:argh: ok sounds like the converter is unlocking on you or not locking up, most likly caused by a bad tps. When the converter locks up it stops useing the vicous coupleing and works like a clutch in a manual truck and is a direct connection to the ground from the engine. The engine can be loaded much better with the converter locked up vrs without, to fix this you can rig up a touqe converter lock up switch which allows you to manualy controll the lock up or figure out why it isn't locking up. In my truck at the drag races I hit the swtich in 2nd gear to get all the power I can to the wheels but don't do this if you don't have a billit input. Hope I helped some

Oh and the "thump" is the rpm difference that occurs when the fluid (vicous) coupling is changed to a solid or direct connection and vise versa:c:

Rustin when i stomp on it it blows a cloaud of black smoke until the turbo spools and it mixes air with the fuel my turbo and intake both have probably around 7000 miles on them so they are fine. And its like a small thump my rpms stay the same but it just stops pulling real hard i mean it will still accelerate but wont build as much boost or pull as much.
