MY TURBO

HAY IF ANYBODY CAN HELP OR HAVE SOME TIPS:IM TRIEN TO OPEN THE WASTE GATE UP ON MY TRUCK TO GET MORE POWER. ITS A 96 DODGE 3500: IT HAS THE 5.9 6C ENGINE: IT ALSO HAS A 5 SPEED MA: RIGHT NOW IM AT ABOUT 7LB OF BOOST AN I WANT MORE IS THERE A WAY :c::humm::humm:

Flight911 12-17-2010 05:57 PM

Yeah the line comming from the AFC housing to the wast gate on the turbo.. either pinch that rubber line or do what i did and cut the hose and plug it up with a bolt or something.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

then take your fuel plate out and you will see a major power increase

ADRIAN 12-17-2010 06:07 PM

OK ONE MORE THING WILL THIS AFFECT ANYTHING ELSE

Flight911 12-17-2010 06:21 PM

Nope. Then if you really wanna c a difference either slide your fuel plate forward or take it out like i did. BUT.. Some guys will argue that if you take the fuel plate out it might do a run away. I disagree cause mine has never did that. Theres more you can do but you run into the risk of to much boosting your stock turbo and messing it up

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

just go out there with a pair of vice grips and pinch that hose comming off of your turbo and tell me if you see a difference.

ADRIAN 12-17-2010 06:21 PM

OK ILL TRI THAT BUT I DNT NEED A RUNAWAY AN THANK U

97cummins 12-18-2010 03:55 AM

:hellox::hellox:taking out the fuel plate also increases the fuel, which increases the egt's. i'd recomend guages first.

ADRIAN 12-18-2010 05:07 PM

I PINCHED THE LINE AN THE TURBO SPOOL FASTER AN WAS LONDER BUT DID NOT TAKE THE PLATE OFF YET

crusty_critter03 12-19-2010 12:04 AM

dear newbie... all caps??? feels like your yellin at us fella... :bat: :moon: haha

and i second 97cummins last post... plug the wastegate an you 'should' be fine. just watch doin to much tinkerin with your fueling before AT LEAST egt an boost gauge install... :c:

cumminsp12v 12-19-2010 02:10 AM

your only gettin 7lbs of boost? i can hit that just goin up a hill with the cruise set haha. i can easily get over 30lbs

oldturbonut 12-20-2010 10:38 PM

turbo boost

Check this boost vs back pressure vid on youtube

blazier18 12-21-2010 02:40 AM

^^^:argh::ouch: first off get it straight piped and a air intake more or less. ur at least gonna want a pyro gauge and boost. second get a boost elbow from (bigbaddiesel) they come with instructions and easy on the wallet. third dont take ur fuel plate out. get a 6, 10, or 0 plate. slidin the plate towards ur radiator will increase fuel. theres a few mods in the afc check the threads up top when u get back to the thread sheet on how to do it! u have to have fuel to get ur turbo goin good!! u can take the silencer ring out if u want to hear it a little better too. if u want to know anything specific on wat u want to do then just ask and well help u! and last that clutch wont last to much longer if u do these little things rite

ADRIAN 12-31-2010 05:38 PM

ok thank u but also i really dont no much about turbos but where an how do i take out the silencer ring on the turbo an do anyone know if a 97-00 4x4 axle will fit just fine without a big change n the front:an i have just put 8inch stacks on it now also

cumminsp12v 01-02-2011 01:09 PM

its on the front where the intake goes on. take off the clamp and its right inside. all you have to do it pry out the snap ring with a flat head and then theres a little plate that will come out also. this will only make your turbo whistle louder. it has no performance advantages. i had mine out but i put it back in cause i drive on the highway for long periods of time and it gets annoying

big willy 01-03-2011 01:37 AM

ok not trying to hijack here but what the crap do you do about plugging a metal wastegate line?

blazier18 01-03-2011 01:44 AM

metal?

yes metal

turbostang7 01-03-2011 02:48 PM

they sell j hooks for the metal wastegate lines, they are on the hy35's not the hx35's, the j hook just puts more pressure on the wastegate so it can't open as quick. guess if you don't want it a pair of vice grips will crush the line but i wouldn't recomend it

joey 01-03-2011 02:53 PM

there is a video on youtube on how to take out the silencer ring be carefull not to slip an stick that flat head threw the blade of your turbo

guhfluh 01-03-2011 05:58 PM

To the original poster: you need to check for boost leaks first. Also check that you have enough fuel in the first place(clogged filter, bad overflow valve or weak lift pump). 7psi is way low for even a stock truck under load. The stock wastegate setting is about 18psi and you should be able to hit that under full load if everything else is working correctly. If you messed up "porting" the wastegate and the flapper doesn't seal anymore, it is probably why you can't make boost.

Once you're sure everything is okay, then start to mod.

country_boy 01-04-2011 07:51 AM

not trying to hyjack the post either but mine is metal too...

cummins_01 01-04-2011 01:18 PM

my buddy took a stock turbo off a 24 valve cummins and put it on his 12 valve and he was showing 25+ boost

ADRIAN 01-04-2011 07:58 PM

i never heard of that but do it have any rubber fittings or hose on it if so cut it an plug it with a bolt ....

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

thanks guhflyh but i find out what the pro was i had to chANGE THE TURBO GASKET BUT ITS PUTTING OUT

---AutoMerged DoublePost---
