tc lockup switch wiring ?

1 Attachment(s)
tried to wire up a tc lockup switch today and when i engage it (introduce ground) it blows the trans fuse. jumped out the trans relay and tapped off of it to a switch going to ground. i have a pdf showing to tap the orange and black wire coming out of the b11 but thought the jumper would be an ok place to do it. my ? is does the tap to the switch have to be in a particular place to not blow the trans fuse.

take out the trans relay and theres like 2 prongs parrellel and 3 others in parallel did u put the jumper wire going from one to the other in the 2 prong holes that are in parrellel?

yea i did the 2 prongs and did a continuity test to make sure it was right(from the b11 to the prongs at the distribution box) but when i hit the switch the fuse blows and im stuck in 3rd w/no lockup

thats the same on i have. does the lead going to the switch have to be tapped in by the plug in the firewall

I'm a little concerned about this part. What are you tapping off of and switching to ground?

does the lead going to the switch have to be tapped in by the plug in the firewall
Yes. You are completing a ground circuit, not adding power to anything.

i was tapping off of the jumper that replaced the relay. running that tap to a switch that when engaged goes to ground to ground the curcuit

Oh my! Take that out asap! The jumper is to keep power at the transmission solenoids. The switch should control the ground of that solenoid. The orange/black wire is the grounding wire for the lockup solenoid. Instead of the PCM controlling the ground, you are with the switch. Does that make sense?

wow thanks i thought the orange black wire was controling the relay. definatley miss read that going to fix it now.

Now, you want to get into how to make a switch light up when you've only completed a circuit to ground? Not much tougher. Just need a relay and power from somewhere to run it.
