12 Valve with schwitzer s300

I just bought a 97 dodge with that semmes to be very slugish. It has a schwitzer s300 turbo with bd power on flange and 4" strait pipe. the rest of truck seemes stock. It just does not have good power, im thinking the pump might have to be turned up to get turbo to spool up. I would apreciate any advice.

is the dummy bolt still on the afc housing. check ur fuel filter? air filter? and welcome to the site:hellox:

pukie370 12-05-2010 07:42 PM

Still has dummy bolt, air cleaner new, fuel filter new, no smoke white or black from exaust. I also inspected turbo and end play seems ok. I have no experience with aftermarket turbos. But truck has no noticible turbo whine and has about same power as old 6,9 ford. Thank you!

i would say get into that pump and get that plate out of there or get an aftermarket one...better make sure you got a tranny or clutch to hold the extra power and some gauges to watch temps

you need alot more fuel to light up a larger turbo like that, your not putting enough volume or heat into the exhaust housing to spool the turbo up. turn the starwheel all the way up and remove the governor plate or buy a 0 plate. theres a sticky at the top of the forum titled something along the lines of turning up your p7100 or something like that, very simple job to do.

sounds like a BD super single to me. Grind yourself a 100 plate or a 10 plate and push it foward and fiddle with your AFC some and get your timing set to about 15-16* and that turbo will be awesome.

try #0, OEM clutch went up in flames in 18 days... with only 15.000km on it before i turned it up....

BUT I STILL HAVE THE OEM TURBO !!!

Auto or Manual ?

pukie370 12-06-2010 08:24 PM

manual 5 speed, my other truck is auto i like manual better.

cummins freak 12-06-2010 09:31 PM

dont grind a zero the 100 is a zero on top when ya need that much fuel. I personally like a 100 100x better for heat and smoke control

my clutch seams to be holding with a 0 plate and 32psi and iv got 35" tires... is it possible that my clutch is aftermarket? i know the truck makes alot more power then stock but lets be honest here, its still a relatively slow truck, are the stock clutches that bad in these trucks? i dont expect this clutch to last but it really just seems to take a beating and hold it, my driving style is pedal to the floor 80% of the time and its still holding lol.

blazier18 12-07-2010 12:44 AM

probably upgraded clutch or poor tuned afc. any aftermarket injectors? fill out a signature everybody lol

pukie370 12-07-2010 01:37 AM

with s300 turbo and ground 100 plate i expect my stock cluch to last till i decide to show of how much power i have! but the i would never go back to gas!!!

blazier18 12-07-2010 02:27 AM

theres alot more power to see with a few more adjustments here and there. slide the afc housing itself towards the radiator and adjust the star wheel forward too. thats a little more power.

angelic0- 12-07-2010 11:58 AM

My South Bend is awesome... at first i thought it was slipping but i think that's because it had to be broken in a little more (although i had 1000km on it)..

OEM clutches are POS !! once it slips... it's all downhill from there...

stock injectors, the star wheel is maxed out and the afc housing is all the way forward and theres no fuel plate. its a 94 so i guess i have the lower hp rated p7100. imo the truck doesn't really smoke much, a always thought these trucks ran a lot dirtier.

blazier18 12-07-2010 06:59 PM

in my opinion the afc ff and starwheel ff was not the most power for me and i have a 180 theres other stuff to do and everytime i run a no plate it seems slower and less smoke

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

ill sell u some brand new 370 marine injectors my trucks been parked and im gonna go even bigger even though i JUST bought them for 498.00 dollars been parked. i had them set up correctly and with 0.10 washers there in my truck i let my truck run two hours with them in it. no haze at idle a tad bit more smoke when i reved it full throttle pm me and we will talk
