NV4500 input shaft

Just looking for a little advice. I'm planning on going with a DD clutch since I tow all the time! Since I'm doing it, is the 1 3/8 input shaft upgrade a must? I got 160k out of my factory clutch, but it didn't take the mods for very long. It's still pretty mild with a tst #5 all the way forward, 4k gsk and 60# springs for my exhaust brake. Also, will I be ok with just putting a couple tacks on the problematic 5th gear nut? I tow a gooseneck with about 20k on it at least twice a week, so reliability is an issue.

Bump, any info would be greatly appreciated! I don't sled pull or speed shift the ol' girl at all. I'm just looking at what to do since I'll have the transmission out anyways. Any other tips or secrets I should know about?

I would put the bigger input shaft in for sure while it was apart like cumminscrazy said they weigh alot more and i think the upgraded 5th gear nut would be just fine thats what i did and i pull stuff often and drag race its also my daily driver and it does just fine :tu:
