How heavy is the flywheel on these babies ?

How heavy is the OEM flywheel ?? 30-40kg ????

Is there any weight difference between the OEM and the SB 13125-OFEK one ?

there proabaly 30-40 pounds, and yes the southbend one is heavier

I know the flexplate is relatively light for a diesel part. I was expecting more metal but the main body of the OEM was pretty thin. As for the fly wheel I can't imagine them putting much more strength behind it. besides the added weight of the surface for the clutch to hit.

depends on the t case and tranny :) I know the 271 t cases are a good bit heavyer than the 241's:c:

My South Bend DD shipping weight was 118lbs. That was the Pressure plate, clutch Disks and Flywheel.

NV4500s are 250ish
NV5600s are 360ish
G56s are 250ish
241 T-case is 100lbs
271 T-case is 120lbs

All the above are from DodgeRam.org

I would have to say a 47re(without fluid) is around 150-180lbs. That's using my calibrated method of grabbing onto it and heave ho.

sb's flywheel is heavy but i got it on and it's not that it is really heavy its that u have to hold it up and start the bolts in thats the hard part

angelic0- 11-03-2010 10:10 AM

i'm not worried about being able to hold these things, i'm a regular strongman competitor, came in 2nd in Icelands Southwest regionals this summer...

i was just wondering how heavy they are, wondering if i should put it on a lift or if i could do it lying on the floor and if the flywheel was perharps lighter than OEM (not sure what effect it would have on a diesel but i put ltw flywheels on two of my BMWs and i thought they made better throttle response.)
