Help Please

I installed a new harmonic balancer on my truck and when i fired it up the rpm gauge doesnt move at all and it wont stay idling. I also adjusted my afc and fuel plate. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this?

I dont know about the idling but you need to adjust the sensor right above the harmonic balancer to where its just not touching

I put the sensor so its right above the balancer but it still didnt do anything. I am ordering a new sensor tomorrow, could that be it?

Unless you were rough on it, I doubt it just broke. Make sure the clearance is proper.

As far as it running... does it stay running if you hold your foot on the gas? or does it not run at all? RPM needle doesn't even bounce/move at all?

Details!

Well the old balancer was bent to hell and we think it might of hit the sensor messing it up, but when I put the new balancer on I moved the sensor up and down to see if it would work. If I keep my foot in it it will stay running but when I let off it dies. And the RPM needle doesnt move at all no matter what. I am going to check the shutoff solenoid today. Could that be it?

Possibly... I don't have any experience with them, but if the shutoff solenoid is stuck down, wouldn't that prevent fueling for startup/run?

The engine speed sensor which goes on the damper should be gauged at .50 thousandths and what is your idle at?

adub12valve 10-28-2010 04:19 PM

Well i figured out it is someting in the shutoff solenoid. It isnt opening or closing so its not getting power or its bad.

you can always just take the shut off solenoid off, and start the truck and see if it idles... and if it does, just buy like a 4ft choke cable and use that as your shutoff solenoid... mine did the same thing, wouldnt idle unless you messed with the pedal.. but i just learned today that the injection pump needs to be rebuildt... so good luck! ahhha
