Front seal

how hard is it to replace the front seal it looks like the oil leak is coming from behind the pulley that the fan is on?

Red_Rattler 10-23-2010 02:22 PM

Thats exactly where the case likes to break because of the KDP.... Hope thats not the story but its not horrible, belt off fan and pully off (3 bolts) then undo all the cover bolts and it'll pop off. If the case is cracked or broke you in for a whole lot of fun... Tab the KDP while your in there!

youre talking about the crank seal. As Red rattler said, its fairly easy.

fixing the kdp is very important do a little reading on that topic. A new crank seal will come with your kdp repair kit.

Pull the hub off........if the cover is cracked like red rattler said you are in for a bit more work than the seal.

If the cover were cracked it would be gravy to fix it, it's the gear housing that usually cracks. :c:

My KDP was tabbed years ago I'm the original owner did it myself. Also after looking closer at it it looks like the vacuum pump this I have also done before.

Vacuum pump seal kits can be had here - GOULD GEAR AND ELECTRIC INC.

Those Gould kits are great, he sends the tools you need to do the job, plus extra seals incase you mess one up. :c:
