looking for a streetable "quick spooling" 500hp
like the tilte says my truck is a street truck, doesnt hook to a sled or pull much, aside from what i have in my sig. and 16.5 degrees of timing and a airdog, what fueling mods and charger would i need to make a quick spooling 500hp street truck? i have begun to look for a phat shaft 62 as i believe that may be the charger for my goal. I would like to stay away from spray def. and maybe twins, id rather a good soild single but i would like your guys ops:tu:

71 wheel is a pig and the housings crack. go :tu:62/68/14 IMO.
|
I'd have to agree...I broke 500 hp on my 24v, but it wasn't a quick spooling setup, since I was running a 64/71/14....
|
please explain the turbo index to me as its still a fuzzy area 62 is the what? and the rest of the numbers are? as far as i have gathered 62 seems to be what i should be looking for in a single

the common #s used are the small end of the wheels and the exhaust housing size.
SO... 62 compressor wheel /68 exhaust wheel /14 housing |
my buddy built a truck and put an industrial silver 62 on it with a 12cm exhaust housing on it, It would light really quick, he was running right around 500 hp and 600 on spray, I can tell ya his egts where through the roof on a dyno or pulling a trailer but it ripped on the street he just had to watch it really close. To get a 500 hp truck to spool quick and have managable egts your best bet would be to do a good towing twin set up that uses your stock hx35 that way your spooling stays pretty close to stock but you also have that bigger turbo to move the air you need for 500 hp
|
Alright if I were to use my hx35 in combo with another charger what would be a good charger the hx could spool quick? Is the phat shaft 62 still good in a twin set up or could I run a slightly bigger turbo
|
you probably could use a 62 or any S300 platform turbo would be good you would have to do some research and talk to some guys to find out what set up will work best in what your looking for:tu:

a s300 is pretty much a hx40. id try a hx 50 and hx35
|
before anyone gets confused, the hx35 or s300 (in this case 62) would be the small turbo in the compounds. A BHT3B or S400 type turbo would be the big one. a set with a pair of turbos too closely matched will not yield good results. the big turbo usually flows 2-3x as much as the little one. an hx35 flows about 575cfm, a S362 flows about 900cfm, a BHT3B flows about 1200cfm, an S475 flows about 1500cfm
