check the shut off solenoid first, then if thats good check your fuses. A couple of em can cause this problem.

blowinsmoke12v 10-10-2010 10:57 AM

THANKS for all the replies...i have had a problem with the shut off solenoid before...but i cracked number 2 injector and it started right up sooo im guessing im losing prime somehow im starting with the fuel filter...then what?

blowinsmoke12v 10-19-2010 10:17 PM

ok well i found out its just that damn fuel shut off solenoid and it just dont pull itself up unless i bump the starter...so for now i just reach in there and pull it up a little ghetto i know

running with no plate will not harm your injection pump

Just get yourself a hand throttle cable like you would use on a carbureted engine. Attach it to the fuel cut off solenoid and run it into the cab and attach it somewhere on the dash. Thats what we did on my buddy John's truck after his second one went out. Now he just pulls it up manually from inside the cab and works like a charm.

I thought there waseither a check ballt type thing or spring that if ran with no plate for so long will come out and tear up your pump it has happened to people before.

has nothing to do with being plateless, do a search on the topic and you will find the plateless storys are myths
