12 valve high egts

im having problems out of my 12 valve just put twins on it the top turbo is a tec 62 the bottom is a garret ht3b i have 4" ex. 4k govener springs afc turned all the way out 100 plate timming at 14.5 stock injectors havent decided what i want to go with yet i tow alot is the reason for the twins everbody say they run cooler mine will 1200deg. at the drop of a hat a little help please

rkadcock 09-28-2010 11:42 PM

Well running twins with stock injectors doesn't help to much because your more than likely not getting your primary to get going.... Some SDX 5x.012 injectors would be a mild upgrade and probably be able to get your turbos moving along with a nice bump in power while being able to pull some descent size loads

But, what kind of transmission do you have? Stock auto, manuel? I only ask because you didn't say anything about it. The stock auto want last to long, also a standard will only go so far as well without a good clutch?

bean farms 09-29-2010 12:06 AM

its a 5 speed im fixing to go threw it and re-build it i have a dual disc south bend im goin to put in it and i was thinking about 5x.014 for injectors but didnt no if that be to much for towing i thought it might be ok beens i got so much air there to suport it how much horsepower & turque could i get out off this set up with 5x.012 or 5x.014

BIG NIG 09-29-2010 12:11 AM

first of all, it doesnt sound like your getting the bottom turbo spooled at all...14.5° timing???????SERIOUSLY??????? timing will lower temps also, you need a few 4+ degree's more. what year of engine, depends on the pump to know how much fuel your getting

bean farms 09-29-2010 12:16 AM

well i rely dont now were my timming needs to be my pump is a 98 215 pump will advancing my timming hurt my bottom end power just curious also i dont have studs or rings didnt plan on goin over 40psi on my boost

BIG NIG 09-29-2010 12:38 AM

you might loose a little bottom end, but you have a hand shaker so who cares..at 40lbs your getting 8-10 out of the bottom turbo, not enough to make the egt's drop. Take the timing to 16° or so

bean farms 09-29-2010 12:45 AM

ok ill try that do you think that will lower my egts . what about injectors? what do i need to go with and still be able to tow and what amount of horsepower and turque can i get will bigger injector lines help any i would like to get that lope and will that kill my fuel milage

FastCR 09-29-2010 12:49 AM

x3, bump your timing up. your not gonna get anywhere lowering EGTs with it that low. Do you have studs? If so I'd be running 18-22*, but thats me...

bean farms 09-29-2010 01:04 AM

no head studs

How much weight are you towing? That'll be a big factor into what injectors to get. If towing heavy, SDX 5x12s would be good. 5x14s may be pushing it a little to far, but it may be doable if your not trying to tow something huge...

Bigger fuel lines do nothing for power and it's not a VP pump so you won't get a lope on your truck from sticking bigger lines on it. Also I don't think you'll want a lope if your towing, as a loping engine tends to be less street friendly

94 12valve 09-29-2010 11:01 AM

what size exhaust housing is on the 3b and the 62mm?

bean farms 09-29-2010 01:28 PM

the 62 is a 12cm housing not real sure on the ht3b i think it may be a 24cm or 26cm

blazier18 09-29-2010 04:34 PM

i was gonna see if u are seein a huge power difference with your twin turbos. but everybody saying your only running 8 to 10 psi on the bottom one i guess its about the same huh? i tow also but mine is almost completely stock but wont be after i get a 5 speed so after u accomplish everything where ur satisfied do a post on how it all turns out.

bean farms 09-29-2010 07:23 PM

ill do it but right now im not happy with them the whole reason i bought them was for towing and they was supose to work good with my set up but it dont fixin to order some injectors and go from there maybe that will bring it to life i hope

tpcdrafting 09-29-2010 07:24 PM

Try turning your star wheel all the way back in, and back out 15 clicks. Slide your AFC housing all the way forward and put your plate a bit forward of center (stock). This may affect performance, but you have to decide with 12 valves if you want a racer or a tower, but there's a sweet spot in there where it gets good for both, but not great at one or the other.

dan33klein 09-29-2010 09:45 PM

:c:you need to bump the timing more, and get studs, maby o rings? why would you run twins if you didnt plan on running more than 40lbs of boost? that 62 is capable of more than 4o alone. x2 on bigger injetors to get the turbos going. i have a garret ht3b too. make sure your correct on the housings. when i bought mine and did the twins i didnt know much about turbos. and i still had high egts. come to find out the ht3b had a 36 cm housing! i was never lighting the ht3b. nows shes got a 23cm housing and spools faster than my junk super hx40. thats why i got the 62/65/12 coming

bean farms 09-29-2010 10:30 PM

i bought the twins cause everybody talk about how cool they run while towing and ive not yet found a single charger that will hold up and keep it cool with very few mods. done to it how cool does your truck run with the 40 and the 3b with the 5x.014 while towing heavy loads how much boost you run with studs with out o-rings

bean farms 09-30-2010 11:41 PM

turns out my 3b has a 27cm ex. housing and a smaller compressor wheel i think this might be my problem

dan33klein 10-01-2010 02:26 PM

i run hot egts cruising down the road cause of the hx40 with the 16cm housing. but when i light the turbos it cools good. with all my fuel egts are at good numbers. hard to get it over 1200-1300. and ive hit 70lbs of boost a little past half throttle at 2750rpms. it has some left in it
