Shopping spree today...

I got a IMCO 3,5" downpipe for cheap (30$ c.a.) then i bought a 4" pipe going to my bed and dual 5" mitre cut black stacks...

BUT, since i'm going to start my teardown (probably tomorrow) i have a few questions...

I'm taking the cab and bed off the truck, taking the cab to a shop nearby to have it sandblasted and the bed too...

While the bed and cab are off i'll either strip the motor out of the frame or just work on it in the frame, but i'll be getting studs and new head gasket and all the usual stuff...

BUT, now i'll be advancing my timing as well to 16,5 maybe 18,5... should i go further?? and what's this KDP stuff that seems to be bothering everyone ???

the kdp is the "killer dowel pin"...inside the timing cover. it has been known to come out of its little hole and wreak havoc on all the goodies behind that cover.

that motor is extremely heavy. your gonna need a serious engine jack and need to unhook every single connection to everything then remember how it goes back together. i would leave it in. on the other hand there is nothing i like more then doin engine work with my engine mounted on a nice engine stand.
