What Do You Guys Think About This Truck?

Im on the hunt for a 12v and Im looking for a solid truck that I wont have to work on constantly and maintain like my chebby. The add is about to expire but the truck is still available.

Its a 95 reg cab Protech cab guard, 4'' exhuast Banks power pack system ( I know its junk). 2'' leveling kit and 2'' lift bags in the rear. power everything Good BFG Mud Terrain 315/75/16's SLT package. Has a newwer 5spd and clutch.

The only thing Im worried about on this truck is it has 270k on it and Im wondering where it is at in its life at this mileage. He supposed to be sending me some more pics tonight but the picks Ive seen so far the truck looks excellant.

that sounds like a perty good deal.... definately get the balljoints and track bar looked at ASAP.... and that twin-ram intake is no good..... send it to me :ok: other than that look into gauges as the first bomb..... i'd also change ALL fluids, front and read diff., tranny (even if it is new you'll know it's good) and don't forget balljoints and trackbar...... oh and tab the Killer Dowel Pin if it ain't already done.....

I hear ya on the fluids I do that with all my new toys so I know for a fact where they are at. How can I check the ball joints my self? I know all about the track bar and thats an easy fix with a 3rd gen conversion.

How are the axels at that mileage? Change the fluids and run her?

Things to look for when I go to look at it?

i'm not sure on 4x4's but on a 2wd you can jack up one side of the front end and grab the tire at the top and bottom and try to rock the tire, push in on top pull out on bottom and swap the push pull...... it *should* be tight and not wiggle or wobble.... this is a good tome to check all your steering components and make sure there is no left and right play in them.......

you'll know a little more about the axles when you do a fluid change..... look for any sign of leaks ar either end of the axle tube though....

So look for leaks and make sure it doesnt grind gears and blow blue smoke all over and its good?

Benjamin 10-23-2007 10:06 PM

that's what i'd do..... it would also be good to be able to hook it to a heavy trailer and take it for a ride and make sure it'll perform under a load and to make sure there aren't any funny noises when you "stress" the drivetrain.....

I bought my current truck with 263k on the clock.... And with proper fluid changes since buying, and TLC, she has run a bit better than my old 90 (2wd DRW sc lb w/220k miles) ever did.

Anyhow just my words on things, due to slow internet I didnt even check the ad, how many miles are on truck in question?

Monster Truck 10-29-2007 11:22 AM

270k
