Alternator Isn't Charging Bad ECU need help plz!!

ok so i have a 1997 cummins in a 1967 ford crew cab body and i just got the truck running after a while and my alt. isn't charging and i tested the alt. so im down to the voltage regulator in the ecu does anyone know how to fix this or where to get one low budget! thanks everyone!!:argh:

You can wire in an external voltage regulator and bypass the ECM control entirely. If I can find a how-to, I will post a link.

field term. to the small nut on alt.(top)
other small nut on alt. to eng. gnd.
term# 3 to pos. batt
term# 4 to ign. like the shut down sol.
the bigger nut on the alt. to pos. batt
thats on any 4 term. reg. so you only use f \ 3 \4

Most people use ford regulators, but I prefer the 2 terminal dodge one, I've had bad luck with the ford ones. One field terminal and ignition on positive to the middle terminal, other field terminal to the other terminal iirc. Then make sure the box is grounded.

I have the same problem, almost..
Not using the PCM and wiring the altenator through a ford regulator the alt. puts out 27 volts. I took it to autozone twice and they tested the alt. and passed. I can hook a 1.5V AA batter to the small leads on the alt. and it puts out about 8V. I am going to try to run it through the PCM and see if it fixes the problem. Sorry to hijack the thread!

make sure your ignition on wire isn't regulated. When I did mine the first time, the wire I used for ignition on was regulated somehow, still not sure by what, but never read over 11 volts and wound up blowing up my optimas and melted all my bulbs.:argh:

are you positive it is not a bad, dirty, or need to be re gapped crank position sensor?
