Yes, look for DOM tube it has a higher rating, you may be able to find a place that will sell it to you as surplus so you pay close to scrap value. The ends are the expensive parts. If you can get away with smaller the price goes down a fair amount.

This is the coolest build can't wait to see the finished product!

Hey everyone
I am still working on the truck. I just spent a month planning and setting up the best Haloween party ever... then only a few people showed. I had a haunted house, decorated the house, music, lights, fog... it was great. Anyways that is what took me away from here. I am still needing to revise my design for the upper rear air bag mounts so I can get them cut and bent. That will be the next thing I will try to finish so I can have a rolling chassis again. Once I have the rear in I will get started on the front which should be fun, drop axle, and the frame is not flat in the front clip so there is not a great place to mount everything. I am also wondering if the bags I have will even fit with the huge calipers, steering box, 4-link and everything else in that area. Hope everyone is having fun!! |

Well I am embarking on a new build for my 1939 Dodge 1.5 Ton Flatbed truck.
So the goals of the project are to restore a 1939 Dodge 1.5 ton truck, install a Cummins 5.9L intercooled 12V, Auto Trans, keep as much of the original look inside and outside of the cab as possible, update wheels and tires, make sure we have good brakes, air bag suspension and to join together a community and have a great time building a great truck. We have all seen the build threads where only the best of the best parts were used and the best people worked on it while the owner just opened up a checkbook. I know I am amazed every time and slightly jealous that I do not have the funds to fix up my truck the way they did. I will be built a website for this build where everyone can watch the progress and I will post updates here. Everyone who contributes will get recognition for anything and everything. As this progresses I will update a list of things still needed. I already have the 1939 Truck and a 1995 Dodge Ram Cummins powered donor truck. http://www.cumminsforum.com/gallery/...00/39-side.jpg http://www.cumminsforum.com/gallery/...0/39-front.jpg http://www.cumminsforum.com/gallery/...00/39-rear.jpg The donor truck; http://www.cumminsforum.com/gallery/...Front-Side.jpg http://www.cumminsforum.com/gallery/...00/Front10.jpg http://www.cumminsforum.com/gallery/...00/Engine1.jpg |
Yesterday I noticed someone is continuing to come over at night and steal parts off my 95, it is in a overflow parking area :dang:
So far they have taken the fenders, hood, suspension, driveshaft, exhaust, bumpers and more. What jerks, I planned to finish the project, use the parts I could then scrap the rest, but these A-holes took parts I needed and tok my money. So now I am on the hunt for a new driveshaft... well I am actually still working on the rear axle, suspension and eventually will get to the driveshaft but now I know I will need the whole thing not just parts. |
How disgusting. People disgust me man :td:
