Are all 12v heads the same?
Can I use a '93 cyl. head as a direct replacement for a '96 engine?
I've got a '96 cylinder head that I was going to use on a good '93 block, but when the '96 blew, the #6 piston hit the head hard enough to crack the piston. I have a good head from the '93 block but I want to make sure all the accessories from the '96 head will swap directly onto the '93 head. Thanks |
No they aren't all the same. Pretty sure you will have to bush your injectors.

Do you know what the difference is?
By bush the injectors do you mean install bushings around the newer/smaller injectors, or that I will have to get new injectors and throw out the old ones? From what I have read the early heads had 9mm injectors but they switched to 7mm injectors before '93 and have been 7mm ever since:humm:. I would like to find out exactly what the difference is (if any) before I attempt to use the '93 head. Thanks. |
The first gen head wont work on a 2nd gen directly but like stated about I think the only difference is the injector size.

91.5 and up 12v heads have 7mm injectors.

Ok, so that means that this '93 head should work:humm: I guess I'll try one of the injectors and see if it will fit, one of the valves is bent in my '96 head:argh: and I will need to get it magnafluxed if I'm going to use it.
