timing question
Going to have my timing set up this coming weekend -- the guy that is going to set it up says he likes to set up a stock engine around 15btdc and most people I see on here are going up to around 16 or 16.5, Just wondering what some of you guys who have done this alot think.
Thanks:tu: |
12 Valve Timing
Yeah I am going with 16 when I do mine. Seems the general average to do. I heard anymore then that they are hard starting in the cold.Just my .02

15-16 is a good number for no studs or o rings.
As for the cold start, with 22* of timing and no grid heater the truck would start in 19* weather with no problems |
Timing
Oh yeah that's It ...I have read so much and only believe half of what I read ...But what half to believe is the question?????? LOL..
Here is a good article on head bolt torquing.Just found it today. Cummins 12 Valve Head Bolt Tech - Diesel Tech - Diesel Power Magazine |
Thanks for the replies guys --I am hoping to get better mileage (been in the 13 to 14 mpg area) and a little better performance with the timing change --I will let you know how it works out.:c:
