ok what happened, i just did my timing and now my truck wont speed up it like puffs white smoke. I dont know how to explain it but its like its running on 3 cylinders the whole truck shakes did the timing slip or is it to advanced i checked it and its right in between 16 and 16.5 its 195 on the lift. Then put it all back together and started it for the first time and its doning this now i dont know what happened i need some help please.

timing is way retarded!!!!

joey 08-18-2010 07:43 AM

y would it slip like that

Pyro690 08-18-2010 08:19 AM

Pump shaft and gear need to be really clean. NO oil or lint from a rag. :c:

BAD ASS RAM 08-18-2010 08:33 AM

THAT AND ARE YOU SURE YOU SET IT RIGHT???EITHER WAY I CAN GARUNTEE IT'S RETARDED

biged681985 08-18-2010 11:21 AM

it sounds like its retarded to me. was this the first time u have done one? every time u pull the gear off, shoot the shaft with some brake clean, or if u can get to the shaft, use some fine sand paper on the shaft. if ya set it right, then it slipped on ya

ok well turns out that when you put a rag in your intake tube to keep dirt out its a good idea to remove the rag before you start it. I pulled the horn off and was so relived to see the rag and then i checked over my sholder to make sure noone saw it. But my truck runs like a spotted as ape but smokes alot in the bottom end but clears right up at 1800. My timing ended up being set at about 16 to 16.5 somewere in the middle.

A rag will do it.lol Glad it didnt mess anything else up.:tu:

angelic0- 08-19-2010 08:55 AM

do you feel a significant difference ???

joey 08-19-2010 06:09 PM

not in the bottom end but it gets it anything over 1800 the main thing i noticed is the motor scemes to idle smoother and speed up smoother. I havent checked the milage but when i checked my timing it was at 13 and now its at about 16.

should not smoke as much and you'll have lower egt's plus better mileage. glad to hear you found the culprit and a easy fix!!!!
