fuel plate for mileage

I have a #0 fuel plate and wonder if it would be better to cut my stock plate
like a #10 plate for mileage and some trailer pulling. Any advise?

your foot is really going to control your milage not the plate. each plate just gives different rack travel. advance your timing and that will give some better mileage.:tu:

p.s a #10 is good for pulling as egts are much better.

the factory plate is the would be better for milage
but as stated above the right foot is the best milage control

The "Pac-Man" Plate

My local diesel mechanic happens to be good buds with my dad. We own a machine shop accross the street from him and he has us machining his fuel plates for him when they come in. If you've heard of the #100 plate you know what it is already... if not, it's simply a #0 but half way down the flat it has a 45 degree cut back... we machine them with a 30 degree cut back and make what we call the Pac-Man because at the end it looks like a pac-man dude. Slide this plate all the way forward and everyone... not just some... everyone has experienced 5-7 mpg increase over stock. One of the guys in his 2x4 is gettin 27 mpg just around town and still gets 20 with his 5th wheel accross Montana. The plate's pretty simple and puts out a little less power but it's not as harsh on your EGT's as a #0.

Jrross is your shop cutting that exactly like a #100 plate or is it different? If it is different I would like to buy one and try it out if possible?

Thanks, Mark

a plate won't affect mpg, your afc tuning is what controls that. as well as buying plates is a waste of money. get afc live, look it up at power driven diesel. its a tuner that lets you control the "fuel plate" actions and tune the afc from in the cab which is what controls your mpg.

Or just take the plate out and use your foot.
