Default new 1995, what should i do?

I just bought a new truck, a 1995 12 valve turbo diesel, ext cab 4x4, automatic. I am new to diesels but i love them already. i bought the truck for a steal but the mileage was high. It reads 318,000. Now i would love to turn up the power but the mileage is scary, anything in particular i should do first. And also my transmission works great until overdrive, i have to let off the pedal before it will shift when i am a little hard on it, any ideas what it might be? any kind of information would be helpful, thanks

grind the plate to a #100 and leave it be.... your tranny won't hold anything more...

Mine is @ 330.000 & mine is grinded to a #0 with a manual tranny... clutch is up in flames...

motors are very strong.. a #100 will be very good for it

You should also check to see if the KDP has been dealt with.

I've learned... As of yesterday, to check your intercooler tubes, particulary the clamps, when you crank the p-pump. Blew mine off and scared the s#*+ outta me... Maybe useless info but that's my 2 cents... And ditto on the tranny it's the weak link...

I blew 3 different intercooler boots off with my silver bullet at 55psi, every time I thought I broke something expensive
