I am new to this site and have red a lot of post about turning the pump up and most everyone says don't do it unless you have a pyro gauge a few clicks im sure isnt bad but i turned mine back until i get a pyro.

Best to get a egt(pyro) guage first. When you start turning up the fueling, the egt's start going up.
Also ask your friend if the kdp has been dealt with.
