No 4Wheel drive??
Hey everyone,
When I put my truck into 4HI it sounds as if the shifter wants to pop out, and when I put the truck into 4LO, You can hear gears grindin for a little and then it pops out of gear. I was told it would be an easy fix but I don't know exactly what I need to fix. If this sounds familiar to anyone can you help me out and let me know whats wrong?
Thanks so much,
Aaron

ok, thank you, it does go into gear, just when i step on the gas it does what i explained above in my first post.
there is a way to check if it is your transfer case very easily because mine did the same thing and it's something inside my t case what you need to do is get on a hill that you can back down but can't go up in 2 wheel drive and get someone to look up under the truck at your front drive shaft if that's spinning it's your axle internals if it isn't it's inside your t case.. hopefully that will help you
I dropped my Tanny and TC last night and took some pics of the linkage. I'm not sure what the linkage is supposed to look like but if anyone has an opinion on if the linkage can be causing my 4 wheel drive not to work properly I'd like to hear it.
Thanks,
Aaron

Thanks,
Aaron

That all looks as it should Inspect rear of t-case where rear prop shaft slides into remove four bolts for rear support housing remove housing and see if there is a snap ring still on shaft at the bearing preventing shaft movement forward this was a common failure on earlier t-case's if its not broken then I would suspect worn fork's and or plastic fork "wear" insert's hope this helps.
Thanks! I took apart my Tcase today and you were right. my snap rings were broken and the plastic parts on the shifting fork were broken. You were right on. thanks again!
