im having to replce my ball joints in my 96 ram 3500 4x4. what size is the nut on the inside of the hub to take it off the axle. is there any other special things i should know before starting this project?

look up the socket trick to get your hub un stuck from the knuckle, also for size i cant remember but its a 12 point socket not a six on some of them hope this helps a little

i think the axle nut is 1 11/16 and the bolts that hold the bearing in are 14mm 12point

definatly NOT a 33. i tried a 36 and it was to small. id go with the last post, i believe its the right one. i did mine two weeks ago. i found it easy to take the four bolts out the back, and put in a longer one and beat the hub off. or if your doting brakes and rotors to like i did, take out the bolts and beat the rotor with a sledge and it will come out:tu:

X2 on what Dan is saying, but try this. When u put the longer bolt in, if you can safely start the truck...I use a lift on my truck, turn the steering wheel and use the hydraulics to push the hub off. Works like a champ and no beating shit.:tu:
