changing my cab over
ive got a 96 dodge ext cab and i found a 99 ext cab that is really nice on the inside and has the swing out doors. is it possible or not and how hard would it be to change the cabs over. any help would be good.

It can be done but it won't be fun. wiring harness will be different as well as the dash.

replacing little stuff is all easy its just time consuming. if you have access to a lift its not too bad. but doing it with a bunch of people is a nightmare. and remember, going from a 96 to 99 cab means youll have to smog it here in the future when they make 98's and up have to smog

he wont have to smog it if he just swaps the body cuz the truck will still be a 96

huh ok ... i always thought it was by the chassis ...

nope. thats why if you buy a cab from a wrecking yard they will give you paperwork for it. but if you buy a frame you just get a reciept

i know its alot more work, but if it were me, id leave my cab on there, cut the back half of it off, and put the back hald of the 99 cab on the front half of your cab. if you can measure, weld and do body work its not half bad. thats how the third door on my truck got added |
