When modifying my AFC for travel, I left my smoke screw in the stock location but noticed that it is pushing the AFC foot and spring forward some. I would think that leaving the tension on the spring and total travel of the AFC where it is would be best, since my in boost fuel is good.

Pretty much the same as gutting it out completely. You still may be limited some on full travel.

So when i initially floor the truck and it ROLLS smoke, and at the bottom of every gear-shift it rolls smoke pretty hard, what should I do? I've been told put the afc full-rear and mess with the starwheel

starwheel adjust towards the radiator= more smoke low end fueling. towards the firewall= less low end fueling. i like mine 3/4 toward the radiator. does not smoke real bad when flooring it. just my 2 cents

Other than a lot of smoke and high EGTs I don't think so, but I'm not a pump expert. I've seen where others run with it gutted and no plate and just control fuel with their foot.

I would say to move the afc housing back and mess with your starwheel

It will not hurt your truck any, it will just be smokey.

And as stated the only air to fuel control will be your right foot

back off on the smoke screw. the best way to set ur star wheel it so when you floor it there is a light haze all the way up to 20 psi boost

it will probably make your truck slower, when ur afc is gutted you cant rly go more than half throttle or the truck will just want to die out, pretty much all it does is make smoke egts and waste lots of fuel,,
i only gutted mine cause i needed a quick tune job a few monthes ago, and never got around to retuning it
