1997 Dodge 2500 Cummins Diesel / Low Mileage | Bismarck, ND Classifieds

12vcummins96 04-19-2010 02:16 PM

yeah thats a bit much maybe 10 at the most

85_305 04-19-2010 02:24 PM

Hate to break it to ya but in the 12v world, thats a GREAT price for a cleannnn 90k mile cummins. I doubt he takes any less but would wager he could get more if he tries.

Send him an offer, maybe he'll bite. I doubt he takes much less than the posted price though.

Why? You lookin to get a real truck? :p

DIRTYMAX2004 04-19-2010 02:32 PM

Nah im looking for an older cummins (either 12 or 24 valve) to beat on so my duramax can be the garage queen

94 12valve 04-19-2010 02:35 PM

That really not a bad price a little on the high side. 11-10 would be a great buy

85_305 04-19-2010 02:35 PM

Ya I wouldn't trust a duramax on the road either. Good luck. These 12v's are a blast to drive and cheapppp to mod.

DIRTYMAX2004 04-19-2010 02:42 PM

I sent them an email telling them i want to look at it when im home in about 3 weeks. I am only goin to offer them $10K and no more. Im not in a huge hurry to buy another truck. How are these trucks to inssure? My dmax is threw the roof for inssurance :dang:

85_305 04-19-2010 02:46 PM

Sheit I pay 42$ a month for my 12v (thats with tickets and 3 accidents 3 years ago.) Most of these hits will come off in the next year but still. Granted thats only basic, the full kahuna is like 90$/month.

I doubt he takes 10g, but hey its worth a shot. Just try not to embarass that dmax with a 30$ fuel plate when you make that step of fate brother.

DIRTYMAX2004 04-19-2010 02:54 PM

that would be awesome if i could inssure it for that cheap :tu: $10k is over the amount i want to spend and i dont like that the truck is in really good shape. I want something i can beat the hell out of and not feel bad.

85_305 04-19-2010 02:58 PM

Ya I absolutely feel you. I'm sooo ocd over my jaguar since its MINT, but my 12v isnt'. So I dont give a shit where I park, how I drive, etc. My mind is at ease driving it. That 12v you are looking at is MINT and I'd probably go nuts trying to make sure nobody fcks it up (or I mess it up myself...)

Rosco 04-19-2010 03:03 PM

Its a damn nice pickup but i would say 10g if its as clean as they are actin. Its obviously been used for pullin weather it was horses or campers. just cause the inside is clean dont mean it wasn't BEAT! check around on craigslist i bet you can find somethin thats a little more up your alley.

DIRTYMAX2004 04-19-2010 03:06 PM

ya thats the way i am with my dmax. i am one of those ppl that parks way out in the middle of no where at wal mart. but yet i still take it off road threw trees, over rocks and threw deep ass water and mud holes.

Im the same way with my 94. I park in the spots no one has ever parked in before lol

But I'll give her hell on the pulling track :)

wes-cummins 04-20-2010 12:18 PM

i wouldnt go a penny over 10

hop sing 04-20-2010 12:56 PM

I think 10k is a good offer especially if its a 2wd if it is a 2wd use that in your favor because a 4x4 5sp w/90,000 miles would be closer to his asking price imo good luck my 97 4x4 5sp 12valve has been the best truck i have ever had Aloha Hop Sing :c:

guhfluh 04-21-2010 04:45 PM

Northern truck which means it has rust, fifth wheel gate which means it was used to pull, no pictures to show the condition and way too high of a price. No way.

P.S. It is 4wd

tltruckparts 04-21-2010 07:42 PM

way high of a price IMO. i see super clean 03/04 trucks in california sell for that price tag. I almost bought an 03 cummins 4wd 6 speed with 110K on it for 11,500 before i built my truck. seems 13500 for a 97 is waaaaay high. at least around here

Wow are you f*cking kidding me?? An 03/04 for 11.5??? Dude an 03/04 around here sells for 30k easy. That 12v is priced for about what you'll find them around here for. Beat up 12v's sell for 10k easy.

joey 04-21-2010 10:01 PM

I bought my 97 with 188k on it for 7091.65 tax title and license. And the guy that owned it before me pulled a horse trailer with it mabe once every 2 months. He liked to keep it in a barn and the carpet and truck was so clean i thought it was new carpet and paint it was cleannnnnn. If you wanna here something that got me, a week after i bought my truck my dad bought an 02 2500 4x4 with 80k on it for 3000 yea and that aint no $h!t. The guy he bought it from had to sell it that day because he was leaving the country and couldnt keep the truck. I couldnt belive it wasnt stolen or about to have major motor failure.

you need to buy a truck down in texas i guess then.. i got mine which was completely stock. truck was in good condition, all it needed was an airfilter/fuel filter and one intercooler boot to run like new again. one tiny stain in the seat. granted its a 2wd but i paid just under 4k out the door. (o and the dash showed no signs of being cracked yet) love it. i did some searching at the small dealer ships here around dallas and fort worth and craigslist. i saw plenty of 01-02 for about 5-6k and some 03+ starting at 7k.

i only looked at trucks that were in good condition and not too badly beaten up.

AS for the OP. that price is way to high for what i would pay for it. 10k seems even a little high compared to the trucks down here.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

shop around and a good deal will come! took me 2 months to find the one i wanted! and thats checking every weakend all around Texas, and the best deal was 3 miles from my house lol

85_305 04-22-2010 06:44 AM

Wow man that blows my mind. A buddy bought a 4door short box auto like a year ago (03 24v) and payed like 34k for it

I'm gonna start checking out texas!!

guhfluh 04-22-2010 07:49 AM

OMG 34k for an 03 is unheard of here. Maybe for an 07 or 08, but you could get a 09 here for that much.

85_305 04-22-2010 08:19 AM

Wow dude. My mind is blown. 34k for an '09? Those are still mid 40's the CHEAPEST around here.

Which part of texas should I start looking thru (hehe)?

kayden101 04-22-2010 04:30 PM

i live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but its all over here, texas is big

Captain Call 04-22-2010 04:39 PM

No joke, I bought my 07 for 34k BRAND NEW!

85_305 04-22-2010 04:47 PM

Wow no kidding. I was looking at an auto '06 or something like that, barebones, single cab. Asking price was like $42k.

lol dude....even us Canucks know to look in Texas for trucks. I picked my '03 up for $14,700. If I'd a bought it up here it would have been $20,000. Look anywhere in texas, or anywhere in the south for that matter. If you want dirt cheap Louisianna and farther SE is even cheaper than TX because the economy isn't as good, but they also get some rust the farther you go.
No matter where you look, you shouldn't be spending more than $30k on an '06-'07. There's a ton of good deals out there. The net is your friend. Also, Manheim auctions is stellar. When I was looking I missed an '05 LT duramax with 75,000miles on it that went for $15,000. I was so choked. This was right before the recession hit.

85_305 04-22-2010 06:04 PM

lol screw you man. I didn't know that. I'm gonna start browsing texas I think. Me's wants some common rails!! teehee.

DIRTYMAX2004 05-04-2010 12:46 PM

i would be worried a bout the roof leak. def what to exam it first. but from what was said i would give him 5.5k-6k and prob not anymore then 6k.

when you check it out. get a garden hose or something and pour water on the top and make sure its not leaking. check the trim by the rear window too. it looked funny.
