o/d shifting

for those of you with automatic tranny at what speed does your tranny shift into o/d? mine seems to be between 48 and 50 mph. speed seems a little low for o/d. just want to make sure tps is working right.

That sounds about right. Bout where mine goes into overdrive also

ok the o/d solenoid controls shift and tc lock up right? could the solenoid still lock up the tc and not shift into o/d?

brindle_bull 03-29-2010 07:22 PM

mine kicks in at about 45-50 but it constantly kicks in and out of OD so i installed my own lock-up switch and leave it locked on the interstates

yes it can lock up the converter and still not go into overdrive, experienced this with my truck. Either your solenoids bad, or you could have some trash in your valvebody in the certain hole that allows the fluid to flow through to lock it into overdrive.

ok i bought my truck about a year ago and supposedly the tranny was just rebuilt but i haven't had o/d since do yall think its toast or should i try replacing the solenoid
