had my tranni rebuilt by ammco around a year ago and when i took out the tc today to put in my billit dacco they look exactly the same. So does that mean that ammco puts in billit tcs when they rebuild? or they just look the same and the inside is stock? dont know much about tc and how they work. and my last question is the oil was not burnt or any thing and it has been change once sine the rebuild (did vb) so if the fluids not burnt that means that the clutch is good right? bc my tc just started slipping within the last month or 2

my tranny fluid doesnt smell burnt and my tc slipped for the last 30k

but i changed the tranny fluid shortly after i smoked it, and mabey it just dont grab hard enough to get hot

if the tc is slipping the clutch is probably smoked

so the clutch burning is why the tc slips?

Yup a TC is just a fluid clutch with an impellar on the engine side and a on the other end is a turbine when the impellar spins it spirals the fluid the opposite way over the turbine which cause your truck to move when its not in lock up, when in lock up the lock up clutchs engages and basically makes your engine and tranny 1:1 just like a manual tranny. So thats where your slip is coming from. you can have the best converter in the world but it doesnt do any good with out a valve body upgrade because the line pressure that is sent to apply pressure to the lock up clutch is still a stock pressure and the lock up clutch will eventually slip again even if say its a ATS 5 star converter they got great lock up clutchs but with out more pressure to hold them agianst the cover they dont do you any good, thats kinda of a crash course on TC's hope it helps you out:c:

Oh duh I should of seeen that in your sig. Your Dacco converter should hold with your sun coast valve body though. Did it fix your slip? Ammco must of used some cheap billet converter if it only lasted a year. They all look the same from the outside. When ammco rebuilt your tranny do you know if they drilled the oil passage in the OD shaft?
