puting a 6 speed in a 12 valve
im geting a 98 dodge 2500 12v 4x4 and want to put a 6 speed tranny in it what will i need it get in order to hook it up
Are you starting with a 5 speed or auto?
5 speed
why are you doing all that work for one lower gear then? it can be done but why? the final ratio in those are close to the same.... IMO just build the 5 speed...
5 spd are way cheaper to rebuild than a 6 spd. and believe me either will need a rebuild if you bomb it rite.:choochoo:
stick with the five speed, 6 speeds are very spendy i bought one to replace my auto,
i've been haveing problems with 5th gear in my 94 cummins it will get stuck in gear then i have to drop the drive shaft then remove the back of the tranny to pop it outta gear then it works for a while and gets stuck again i know what the problem is but i dont know how to fix it right do anyone know how to do it or should i replace the 5th gear
replace you or it might be a shifting fork..... i would repair that before even doing the 6 speed
my .02 |
i know it aint the shifting fork it the pin things idk what their called 1 of them trys to go out instead of in im probly gonna have to replace it because the tranny has over 300k hauling miles on it and i've been runnig a stock clutch on it with a #10 fuel/torque/cam plate on it now the clutch is burned up on it o and i got a bad oil leak comin from the front of the engine and when i open it up it blows the oil stick blows out does anyone know what the problem is there
