Rear Main Seal
This coming week I am going to have my nv 4500 rebuilt and a new clutch put in at the same time.
My question is if the flywheel looks ok and the rear main seal isn't leaking should I just leave it alone or should it be replaced also?:bombin: |
replace the rear main seal no questions asked........also I would replce the pilot bearing and throw out bearing for the clutch too.....they are cheap and you are in there man
|
I will absolutly replace the to and pilot brgs but--- I wasn't sure what type of a job the rear main seal is.
I have replaced them on gas engines that where not leaking and wouldn't you know it after I got done the #!!@*& rear main seal started leaking. |
one other tip would be to go get the seal from Cummins or Mopar is the same thing.......dont go with the after market seals.........thats one place I will never go after market....they are cheaper built
|
dont bother dealing with mopar cummins is usually cheaper for every other part but I would change it so you dont have to go through all this stuff later on that would suck.
|
Thanks for the help, and I will check with Cummins on the rear main seal and see what kind of price they have.:U:
