Lacking power at shift
97 Dodge 3500 automatic. When I take off sometimes it doesnt want to shift until about 2200 RPM, and then shift fine. Problem is when I am at that rpm, expecially going up hill there is no power and sometimes alot of smoke. The truck is stock throughout (exhaust and breather also). No work has been done but it really seems a little dogged out. Miles are only 150k. Also at high speed, and I mean 60-65 cuz after that there is no power. My other 97 seems to have much more power. Any feed back would be great,

the governer is defueling it,that happens between 2,200 and 2,700 depending on the truck.you need a 3 or 4,000 GSK.that will fix it.

well if it is black smoking then you are getting plenty of fuel i would check turbo boots ect

3000-4000 RPM Governor Spring Kit: Source Automotive Performance Diesel Also don't know what the warning really means about 60lb valve springs for the 4,000 RPM kit. As in... if you go 60lbs valve springs what else would that entail, as far as replacing other things. Probably a bad idea going 4,000 RPM anyway... but the idea that the two kits cost the same, well.... :s: |
is the tranny shifting alright? If theres black smoke and its stock. Tranny might be putting it in the wrong gear.

What about the torque converter that could be going bad to.
|
put the 4kgsk an 60lb valve springs in it:tu:

Is the air filter clean?

So ZTK7220 gets the fix it prize. Changed the fuel filter and runs better than better now. Thanks
