3rd gear

3rd gear has began grindng if you shift too fast. Double clutching solves this problem. My trouble is that the girlfriend cannot figure out double clutching...
Are the syncros hard to change? IS it a big job? Am I better off with a new tranny. Or should I not let the g/f drive?? lol
It's a 98 12 valve 5 speed with 450000 km's

Mine does the same exact thing. check the oil in it. if Its fine then rebuilding will be a PITA.:c:

They are really not too bad to be honest, you will need a press and for sure a bunch of different pullers, we have a lot of special tools to rebuild them with, but before i bought them we used the farm boys in us and used whatever we could to get it done.

They are not bad to rebuild if you have a book, beer, and time. My nv4500 took me about 10 hours to do(first manual tranny rebuild and by myself). quad4x4.com is a good place for info and tools. If you plan on only rebuilding 1 tranny, not really worth doing yourself $$$ wise. You can do it without the speciality tools but its a PITA. If your like me and want to do it just so you can say you did it and to learn, find someone with the tools and to help. Or just don't let the gf drive. :c:
