Big A$$ electrical problem
 

well truck is in the shop and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. The truck isn't throwing any codes to the computer they're hooking it up to. The whole warning light cluster is on, don't have a speedometer or the rpm gauge, and transmission is just giving me all sorts of trouble. Shop just put in a $900 p.c.m. in and none of the lights have gone away and i don't know where go next? I figure maybe there is a bad connection to the batteries through the cables or something, another thought was maybe something is getting grounded out through the fuse box, or could be a possible short somewhere in the sensor on the rear end. Any Ideas?

mine was doin the same just about the same thing and it turned out to be a broken battery terminal. also check grounds n clean everything up. have your alternator checked, have your batteries checked, if none of that turns up anything, try the crank position sensor. check the small stuff first.

new alternator and batteries are in it, yours was a automatic?

There is a ground behind the kick panel that likes to corrode and cause all kinds of havoc with the cluster....also pulling the harness on the back of the cluster and clean the terminals as they can get some corrosion on them. Check out the CPS as it tells the PCM the engine is running and turns everything else on....sometimes the wiring on it can develop cracks as well so check that whole thing out.

Im thinking a ground issue as well need to trace all known ground for the pcm and check them first would be my suggestion.

yeah mine's automatic n i had problems with it not shiftin above 3rd n no lock up at all.

grounds are normally the cause for a problem like this. if you lose power somewhere it normally only glitches in one area. but a bad ground can mess with an entire portion of the car

thanks for the idea's guys:tu: if i put it in drive it starts out in third and kill its self so i have to drive it like a standard and go through all the gears, have no fourth gear at all:td:

I guess I'll help you look at it I'm coming down tomorrow so just call me and let me know or text me. I'll bring some tools for electrical testing.

its in colorado, you'll have to make a trip with me, the mechanics cant figure it out. its not throwing any codes on the computer they have it plugged in to.
