changing dv

any tricks to it or just unscrew the line off and take old one out put in the 180?

take the injection lines completely off the motor, use a delivery valve socket to remove the thing that holds the delivery valve and holder in place. then use a magnet to remove the delivery valve and holder, make sure to remove all shims if any that were under the delivery valve. install the 181's replace the o-ring on the pump with the one that came with the new delivery valves, and tighten the cap back down to a specific ft/lbs (not sure, mine are "tight") and then install the injection lines and bust her off to find your new found power.

im going to be geting a set of 180 to replace my 130 what the power diff going to be? im buying used dv on here where i get new o rings?

Benjamin 01-18-2010 08:08 PM

you are removing 131's not 130's and installing 181's not 180's. it will be stamped on the delivery valve head what number it is.

you can get the oring from any truck shop that does fleet work on big rigs, just make sure you can explain what you need to them and they understand.

bowtech 01-18-2010 08:15 PM

ok. so what are the power gain going to be like?

Benjamin 01-18-2010 08:20 PM

it will be pretty substantial. the 131's choke the fuel down alot. watch the pyro and you will see it move faster along with more boost and the truck should haul fairly good. i'm not sure how the PI injectors will do as i don't have first hand experience with them but have rarely heard any good or bad.

it will more than likely be more fuel than the stock turbo can suply air for depending on where the #5 fuel plate is positioned. it will also more than likely over power the stock converter (i see a V/B but no converter in your sig) so it's lifespan will suffer....

i don't want to say any HP numbers you will gain as all trucks are different.... but it will be noticeable if you put the truck on the butt-dyno....

bowtech 01-18-2010 08:31 PM

the 5 plate is in the middle so on the stock turbo with the boost elbow wont be able to keep up? im going to be geting a tc after tax return

wes-cummins 01-19-2010 05:22 AM

turbo wont beable to keep up with injectors and dvs, get a triple disk tc

The shoulder is smaller on the 131 than the 181, which means when comparing the valves themselves, the 131 would flow more fuel. Take a look at the difference in the seat, then you may be on to something. Tried them every which way, not much power difference between any version.

So there isn't much difference between a 131 and a 181? How about a 191?
