so many problems. need advice.

well i just finished doing my head gasket with o-rings and headstuds. started up good and all seemed ok. then it started overheating. i DID put a new thermostat in. there was a lot of oil left in my coolant system . so i am going to flush my radiator and everything to make for sure its spotless. then idk if my thermostat is even working. i got it from napa. so you guys get any thermostats in perticular or stay away from any?

Then...
I was listening under the hood the day after i did my head gasket and i hear an obvious compression leak. not very bad at all but im sure that what it is. I have no idea where to start here. My buddy has a fuel pump he took off because he got a fass so i am gonna throw that on and see if i hear anything still. after that i have no idea. it is coming from driver side of the engine down by my fuel pump.

Sorry for the long post.

Did you follow the stud manufacturers re-torque procedure? What brand HG did you use? Was everything SPOTLESS? As for the cooling system.....get some Cascade DISHWASHER soap and run that and straight water through the system. The cascade will dissolve the oil and drain it. You might have to run the soap a couple times to get everything out and then do multiple water flushes to get all the soap out. MAKE SURE you use dishwasher soap ONLY though as the regular stuff will foam up and cause issues.

ya i cleaned everything out now my thermostat is workin. it just runs a little cold. but i still got this compression leak so im just gonna take it down to a diesel performance shop and have them listen. my buddy got the headgasket it was in a cummins package. the block and head were perfect i spent a lot of time on them. and yes i torqued the studs right.

Could you have a huge air pocket in the coolant system? . :humm:

Not of it runs cool now. Did you retorque it after it got warm? Are you sure the turbo boots and intercooler aren't leaking?
