12v misfire
i have got a 95 12v, i usually leave it plugged in all night, but it will still miss and run like crap from a idle to about 1200 rpm until the engine worms up more. its an automatic with a bd turbo, fuel plate is ground flat, 80 hp injectors, the timing has not been messed with at all do you think that would help it run better if i advanced it a little bit? let me know what you think. thanks

turn the timming to 16.5 degrees thats perfect for the street

Does it fire right up or take a bit of cranking?
If it takes a bit of cranking, I am going to say you are loosing prime somewhere, from an air leak in a supply or return line or something. If not, then you could have an injector sticking. Can you pinpoint the cyl that is missing? |
when its worm it starts right up, when its cold out it takes a bit of cranking but thats usual for these. i dont know if it is one misfiring or what but it stumbles and doesnt run very good in that rpm range but when its worm it runs fine

Typical old diesel :tu:

sounds about right. mine does the same when it is under 20* and not plugged in at night. but mine only has to idle a couple minutes if that and it is good to go.
|
ok thanks for the info and help. i will probably play with the timing a bit and see what it does.

I think the rubber hose on the return line is starting to head south. My 94 with 300k miles fires right up, minimal cranking. . . . . .

mine does the same thing but not untill below zero. so i think its normal for any diesel with mechanical injector pump. i would advance the timing anyway and see if it helps>
